The movie Indu Sarkar revolves around 1975-77 emergency periods in India and it was even hit by controversy, but even then it has found very few takers.
Indu Sarkar 1st day collection
The movie was directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and the movie was released on Friday 28.07.2017. The national congress party had protested against it and then Priya Sing Paul, who alleges that she is the biological daughter of late Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi, wanted a stay on its release. However, a day ahead of its scheduled release, the Supreme Court refused her plea and the film hit the screens on schedule.
The film is based on the story of a woman named Indu and her fight against the excesses of the Emergency. While the very small opening at the box office on its opening day shows a low business of the film, the positive review of critic increases chances of the film to reach a double-digit collection at the box office. However, it would only depend on how the audience perceives the film in its following days.
Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Kirti Kulhari, Tota Roy Choudhary, Parvin Dabas, Supriya Vinod and Sheeba Chaddha are in the lead role. Indu Sarkar is produced on the small budget of Rs 11 crore and its makers have given it quite a bit of promotion. The movie recorded 10% occupancy in the morning shows. It witnessed good growth in the evening shows.
As per the early trade reports, the film has raked in Rs 4 crore on Friday. Indu Sarkar has characters inspired by the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi. The screenings of Indu Sarkar were stalled by Congressmen at some theatres and multiplexes in Thane, Nanded, Nashik, and Jalgaon districts. They condemned the alleged “false depiction” in the movie, claiming the film is “fully sponsored”.
