Divided CoA sets up committee to probe charge against Rahul Johri


#MeToo Update:On Thursday the Committee of Administrators (CoA) had formed a three member panel in order to inquiry about the sexual harassment allegations made against the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri. As all their fellow CoA are in the favor to sack Rahul Johri but chairman Vinod Rai stood in the way of sacking him. The CoA which is led by Vinod Rai and also has former women’s captain Diana Edulji said that Johri has submitted his response for all the allegations made against him by anonymous account in the Social Media.

The panel which has been set up by the CoA had includes former Allahabad high court judge Justice Rakesh Sharma, has been named as chairman, as the Women chairperson they appoints Delhi Commission for Barkha Singh and former CBI Director P C Sharma. The panel has given  day to submit the investigation report in  days while all allegations of sexual harassment against Johri while he was employed with the BCCI.

The CoA said that Johri submitted his explanation on October 20 denying that the alleged incident ever took place. The CoA met on October 20 and 22 to consider the matter where Edulji demanded Johri’s removal. Edulji and seven BCCI state units wanted Johri to be sacked but Rai said a probe is necessary before a call is taken on that. With a response to this Diana Edulji expressed that the CEO has such grave sexual harassment allegations against him it would not look good as he represents BCCI.

But in response to this CoA chairman said that it would be unfair to sack him with allegations made by an anonymous account. Johri will continue to remain on leave until the independent committee submits its report and a decision is taken on its findings.
